is limited – phone ahead (815-344-1294) beginning May 13th to
reserve space, obtain registration form and arrange delivery time.
Works must be delivered
in person. No electronic submissions.

Bog’s First Annual Summer Bog Art Show
is an exciting opportunity for artists (ages 12 – Adult) with a variety
of
mediums to display in conjunction with International Bog Day and Volo Bog’s
year-long Anniversary Celebrations.
Established in Scotland in 1989, IBD is celebrated on the fourth Sunday
every July. This year, Volo Bog State
Natural Area is bringing IBD to the U.S.!
Main Rule! Subject MUST be representative of Bogs, the Wetlands – Not General Nature
To
clarify any questions as to what is representative of bogs, please ask
naturalist Stacy Iwanicki – 815-344-1294.
At the reception, artists will mingle and meet with
visitors then be invited to present a brief gallery talk.
The exhibit will help promote local artists and
awareness of the unique bog ecosystem.
Welcome mediums include but are not limited to:
Sculpture Photography
Paintings Drawings Ceramics
Crafts
Pottery Carving
Glass Mosaic Mixed Media
Textile Poetry
All items must be original works by the artist
International Bog Day will also feature Voices of the Land, a multi-media story and
music
production by historian Joel Greenberg
with musicians Tom & Chris Kastle.
John & Debbie Seaton of Celtic Sun in Fox Lake will be demonstrating
Irish crafts including the Bodhran drum.
Volo Bog State Natural Area is celebrating the 50th
Anniversary of the purchase of Volo Bog by
The Nature
Conservancy and the 25th
Anniversary of the Friends of Volo Bog.
