CHILDREN’S CRAFTS SPRING
Sunday, April 13, 2008 was Earth Day Crafts with the crafty bog committee. Using natural material and “old stuff from around the house” our volunteers showed children how to make egg carton caterpillars, pine cone birds, pie-pan wildlife mobiles, and wallpaper wind flowers. They also had the children plant native prairie seeds to sprout at home and plant in their gardens.
About the same time as the crafts our docent, Jan Wemple, removed “Jackie” our Fox Snake from her tank for the children to handle and get acquainted with.
2009
Our Craft committee of Bernadette Haase, Sharon
Loris & Christine Steffy helped the 3 or 4
families attending, who were there the whole time -
They made egg carton flowers and caterpillars, toilet paper roll binoculars, decorated foam butterflies, made paper plate turtle tambourines , planted wild flower seeds in cups to take home and grow and paper pitcher plant bug catchers that represented how the real plant gets it's food. A fun day was had by all!.
