The Spring selections are:

March 8: "Evening Thoughts - Reflecting on Earth as a Sacred Community"  Thomas Berry is a cultural historian with a passion for the history of
religions and our connection to the natural world.  In "Evening Thoughts...", Berry "reconciles modern evolutionary thinking and traditional religious insights concerning our integral role in Earth's society. While sounding an urgent alarm at our current dilemma, Berry inspires us to reclaim our role as the consciousness of the universe and thereby begin to create a true partnership with the Earth community." April 12:  "Things Trees Know" ... & ... "Breathe the Wind, Drink the Rain" These two books by Douglas Wood are part of his "Wisdom of Nature" series.  Wood is a naturalist, illustrator, musician as well author of many books including the award-winning children's book Old Turtle.  Says Wood on his web site,  "Once, on top of a mountain, a friend asked me a question. We were sitting on a rocky precipice, wind whipping at our clothes, the entire world seemingly at our feet, when he asked, 'How do we introduce our children to this?  How do we get them started in a relationship with the natural world; especially in a culture that seems to separate us from nature at every turn?'  I thought about his question a lot, and decided that within the question itself lies the answer.  How do we introduce our children?  Well, we introduce them. . . May 10: "This Tender Place - The Story of a Wetland Year" - With author Laurie Lawlor! Laurie Lawlor is a diverse, award winning author of dozens of books from fiction to historical fiction and biographies.  A resident of Evanston, Illinois, Laurie will be joining Of Bogs & Books in May for the celebration of American Wetlands Month.  Says Laurie, This Tender Place- the Story of a Wetland Year, is born of  "a decade-long research process ... of a unique and endangered fen that has managed to survive the crush of commercial and residential development in one of Wisconsin's fastest growing counties."   The book was recently honored by the Wisconsin Library Association for literary excellence and is currently available from University of Wisconsin Press and at web sites on line.     "Laurie Lawlor's writing reflects her love for her wetland.  At times the writing is so beautiful, so lyrical, it should be set to music." --Joanne Flemming     Visit Laurie at http://www.laurielawlor.com/   NOTE that May's meeting welcomes a visit from author Laurie Lawlor.
