Hummingbird Festival

Volo Bog's first-ever Hummingbird Festival was a great success! A standing-room only crowd of 100 people gathered from 11 am - 12 noon for Master Permit Bander & Illinois Audubon Board Member Vernon Kleen's talk. At least another hundred (quite possibly several hundred) more folks joined us for the afternoon of banding. We caught and banded one adult male hummer. We will schedule another program for 2009. With additional feeders next year, we hope to catch many more! The Hummingbird Festival at Volo Bog is just one of many wonderful programs sponsored by the Friends of Volo Bog.
