Educational Programs
Mammals of Volo Bog SNA (
The program began with classifying Mammals by their order and family and how they differed, where they lived, and if they were nocturnal or diurnal. Pelts were identified and passed from hand to hand so that everyone could have an up-close look. We then split up into groups of two or three to identify skulls that were spread around the room on countertops for easy viewing. Each group had a dichotomous question and answer key to help them identify the skulls. This was both an educational and enjoyable experience. From the classroom we went outside to learn the proper use of binoculars, and then we headed into a wooded area in search of mammals. I think that we all learned something new in this two hour class.
